Is sex before PET harmless or risky?

I think I'd like to talk about the question that no one really wants to ask out loud at the clinic which is the topic for today.
My sister's FET is coming up in a few days, and she's trying to figure out if they're allowed to get intimate, some clinics say to avoid it entirely after ovulation trigger or transfer prep starts, others are like, eh, just not the night before, I've even seen posts where people say it can help with uterine blood flow or oxytocin or something? and then others say it might irritate the uterus or affect implantation.
Honestly, it feels a bit ridiculous trying to Google sex before embryo transfer while also meal prepping pineapple cores and checking her progesterone levels like a lab rat, this whole process already has her and her husband overthinking everything, do we really have to add a chastity clause?

I know the advice on this can be all over the place so it's nice that you're bringing this up and that you're advocating for your sister!
In our clinic, we advise that it's generally fine, unless there's a specific medical reason to avoid it.
Just take it easy and avoid anything too strenuous.
The fear is that it could cause uterine contractions, but the medical community is pretty divided on whether that's a real issue.
Honestly, the most important thing is for your sister and her husband to feel comfortable and not add any extra stress.
If they're going to be worried about every little twinge afterward, it's probably better to just hold off.
It's a personal choice, and mental peace of mind is likely the most important factor of all.
Tell her to take a deep breath and go with what feels right for them!
You're an amazing sister for helping her through this!

It's confusing how clinics differ on intimacy after ovulation trigger or transfer, some say it helps with blood flow, others warn it might harm implantation. Maybe it's more about personal comfort than strict rules?

Haha, I totally get it, this whole FET process turns everything into a science experiment! Most clinics are cautious and suggest avoiding intercourse right around transfer, but a little intimacy earlier usually isn't harmful
